San Francisco, CA  San Francisco’s longest operating brewery-restaurant ThirstyBear Organic Brewery celebrates its 20th Anniversary on Saturday, August 27 with their biggest bash ever in its 20-year history! The outdoor block party takes place directly behind (and within) ThirstyBear’s 18,000 square feet brewery-restaurant. The epic anniversary event features more than 40 craft beers from 20 of ThirstyBear’s favorite local breweries. Homegrown foot-stompin’ bluegrass string band The Brothers Comatose perform a special 2-hour show, and SF Flamenco Dance Company opens the afternoon with their singular dancers and musicians. Interviews with ThirstyBear’s founding brewmaster/owner Ron Silberstein are available upon request.

Along with its many Bay Area contemporaries, ThirstyBear has helped establish Northern California as one of the top beer destinations in the world. To recognize reaching such a pivotal milestone of brewing for 20 years in San Francisco, ThirstyBear invites an impressive list of their closest brewery colleagues to join the fun: 21st Amendment Brewery, Almanac Beer Co., Anchor Brewing, Beach Chalet, Bison Brewery, Cellarmaker Brewing, Drake’s Brewing, Faction Brewing, Fieldwork Brewing, Fort Point Beer, Harmonic Brewing, Headlands Brewing, Local Brewing, Magnolia Brewery, Sierra Nevada, Shmaltz Brewing, Social Kitchen & Brewery, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, Triple Voodoo Brewery, and Woods Beer.

ThirstyBear’s brewmasters Ron Silberstein and Brenden Dobel are crafting a special multi-grain, wet hopped, nitrogen conditioned anniversary ale for the 20th Anniversary Block Party. They’ll release a vintage barrel-aged beauty called “Dark Age,” pour their entire rotating selection of beers, as well as cask conditioned ales from ThirstyBear, 21st Amendment, Social Kitchen, Anchor, and Magnolia. More than 40 different hop bombs, sours, cask conditioned ales, seasonals, and barrel-aged beers will be available for unlimited tastings.

Great brews require delicious eats! ThirstyBear’s Executive Chef Rob McCarthy pairs the Bay Area’s finest beers with his signature seafood and vegetarian paellas, artisan cheeses, Spanish tapas, and whole roasted pigs raised on its brewery grain at Willow Farm (Pescadero, CA). Nationally renowned bartenders (and ThirstyBear alumni) Daniel Shoemaker (Teardrop Lounge, Portland, OR) and Erik Atkins (Slanted Door, SF) serve up artisan cocktails along with sangria and wine.

Come and experience one of the summer’s most-anticipated Bay Area craft beer and food celebrations at ThirstyBear’s 20th Anniversary Outdoor Block Party!

About ThirstyBear Brewing Co.

Established in 1996, ThirstyBear Organic Brewery is the first and only brewery in San Francisco to brew certified organic beer and become a certified Green Business. ThirstyBear serves a constantly rotating line up of specialty, seasonal and classic craft beers.  Born out of Founding Brewmaster Ron Silberstein’s longstanding commitment to support sustainable agriculture, ThirstyBear brews CCOF and FDA certified organic beer with the finest hops and grains. ThirstyBear sources its ingredients from the world’s most renowned malt houses and premier West Coast organic hop farms to distinctly pair their craft beers with its exquisite Spanish cuisine. Since 2002, Silberstein has collaborated with Brewmaster and Certified Cicerone Brenden Dobel to define a singular German-influenced West Coast style of brewing, with a special emphasis on pilsners, IPAs, stouts, Belgian-inspired ales, cask conditioned ales, session beers, and barrel aged brews. Dobel’s expertise with German beer styles is the result of his extensive training at Doemens Brewing Academy in Munich, Germany.

As one of the first critically acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurants to open in the Bay Area, ThirstyBear’s Executive Chef Robert McCarthy serves some of the city’s top paella, tapas, charcuterie/cheese and beer pairings, flatbreads, 100% grass-fed beef burgers, and specialty dishes prepared not only with beer, but with beer’s raw ingredients (hops, malts, yeast).

According to the Brewers Association, which keeps the most comprehensive information on craft breweries in the United States, ThirstyBear brews and serves more craft beer in-house than any other brewpub in San Francisco. ThirstyBear also proudly serves local wines from kegs to reduce its overall carbon footprint.
